Biography

Mashiat Hossain completed her undergraduate and master’s degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). In 2021, she began her Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), with a research focus on air quality and climate modeling. Her work has analyzed the impacts of marine aerosols on atmospheric chemistry and cloud dynamics, leading to a publication in Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics and multiple best presentation awards at national conferences. Her broader research interests include understanding atmospheric composition and how it informs policy decisions, climate dynamics, and extreme events.
